Jeremy Gillman-Wells named one of the TOP FINANCIAL PLANNERS IN AUSTRALIA and honoured with the BEST PRACTICE AWARD!!

The Financial Planning Association of Australia has this week announced the 2013 Best Practice Award winners. The awards recognise Australia’s best financial planners who deliver exceptional, qualified and trusted financial advice using the highest standard of ethics, practice standards and professional conduct in the country.

We are super proud to announce that Jeremy Gillman-Wells has been awarded both the ACT and National Future2 Community Service Best Practice Award. This award recognises the highest quality financial advice for community service and pro-bono work. Jeremy volunteers his time and the services of Bravien Financial as a pro-bono Certified Financial Planner, specifically working with the NSW Cancer Council, as well as fundraising for the Future2 Foundation and our ongoing relationship with the Smith Family Learning for Life Program.

Jeremy took on a complex pro-bono case, successfully representing a couple being smothered by bureaucracy at the worst possible time of their lives - Dale was terminally ill with leukemia. It was a tireless 2-year fight through which Jeremy would simply not take ‘no’ for an answer. The award winning effort resulted in such a positive impact on very special people and highlighted the critical importance of having a trusted adviser who can problem solve across the entire financial spectrum. It further demonstrated how critical it is to understand your structure and what you have, the importance of insurance, the unquestionable community benefits of pro-bono financial advice, and the power of compassionate leadership in financial services.

Jeremy said “it can be easy for everyone - politicians, the media, the industry - to forget that our work is first and foremost about assisting clients. The Cancer Council Pro Bono initiative we worked on gave us the opportunity to help clients at the most difficult time of their lives – they were emotionally, physically and financially at rock bottom. Delivering excellence with this case has provided our team with an enormous sense of achievement and plenty of examples of the importance of comprehensive planning. Being recognised by the FPA with this award highlights the value we as a team provide – it gives our firm, and the industry, greater credibility.”

CEO of the FPA, Mark Rantall, said that the Best Practice Awards also serve as an important symbol of excellence for consumers seeking qualified financial advice.

“These awards recognise the best of the best. FPA members comply with some of the highest financial planning standards on a global stage. These Award winners have not only complied with the FPA Code, but in so doing have offered a considerable contribution to the profession through community involvement, mentoring and support to their local FPA Chapter.

“Our profession has been through a period of tremendous change in recent years and has made significant strides in advancing the global standing of the profession. These planners have, in spite of any interruption to business, persisted for their clients’ best interests. The three national category winners truly embody the values of our professional community in their everyday work with clients and are exemplars of the financial planning profession,” said Rantall.
